This IP-68 buoy-type float switch is ideal for controlling the level of a tank, a reservoir or a wastewater or industrial wastewater pond. The switch comes with a 5 meter cable and a counterweight already built into the float body.

The device switches at an angle of about 45 degrees, using a mechanical switch. The maximum switching voltage rating is 250 V AC, but it can be used with a lower voltage (ie 110 V, 220 V, 240 V, etc.). The switch has a changeover contact, so it can be used for normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) operation.

It has three conductive wires: common, NC and NO. By connecting the circuit to the common wire and one of the other two wires, you can choose between normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) operation. In other words, you can decide whether the switch should make contact when the float is in the raised or hung situation.

Normally, a normally open (NO) float switch turns "on" when the float is below a preset level (gravity forces it down) and "off" when it rises to the preset level. A normally closed (NC) float switch works in reverse. It closes when on hang and turns on when above the preset level. Normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) operation depends on the wiring. It can be used to switch a pump or an alarm and has an IP68 waterproof rating.
